Questions for Dr. Stern

About Your Urgent Care Center

1. My partners and I are going to start an urgent care in California.  Are there any publications that you offer that may help answer the many questions that we have with regard to starting an urgent care? I plan to attend the conference but was hoping to be educated sooner.

There really are not any good written publications on this subject, but you can get CDs of the “Urgent Care Startup” track from the Fall UCAOA Conference.
We can help startups in many different ways, including:

  • Free full day tours of our urgent care center business—Physicians Immediate Care. We operate 10 centers in Illinois and Oklahoma. We entertained around 300 visitors in 2007.
  • We have a startup consulting business (National Med Network), which has worked with over 50 startup urgent care centers in the last few years. They can give you cookie cutter pro formas, financial projections and help you with every aspect of starting a center. Patrice Pash, RN is the lead consultant and usually spends half of the day with tour visitors (I usually devote a half-day to the tours)
  • Simple phone conversations.
