Machesney Park, Ill. (October 16, 2015) – Practice Velocity®, LLC, a leading urgent care software and services company, announced that its ICD-10 functionality has been fully vetted and that their clients have experienced flawless clearinghouse claim processing.

Claims with a date of service on or after October 1, 2015 are required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) to be submitted using ICD-10 codes. Any claims submitted after October 1 with an ICD-9 diagnosis code are being rejected back to the provider with a code of DCX (Diagnosis Code Excluded).

All claims submitted by Practice Velocity have been successfully processed by the claims clearinghouse.

“Practice Velocity has done an awesome job in preparing their software for ICD-10 adoption,” said Douglas Mehaffie, M.D., Medical Director of West Bank Urgent Care in New Orleans. “They were really out in front of the changes, which took away the worry of ICD-10 adoption for our clinics.”

Practice Velocity was prepared to receive ICD-10 diagnosis codes for all claims well in advance of the deadline. Also, since coding functionality is built into the EMR system, urgent care providers are not required to look up codes or learn ICD-10 coding. On October 1, providers found selection of the appropriate ICD-10 code to be accurate and almost effortless.

“Our goal with Practice Velocity software was not to merely be ICD-10 ready, but ICD-10 easy,” said David Stern, MD, CEO of Practice Velocity. “Our clients didn’t have to worry about ICD-10 implementation because it’s seamlessly integrated into our software solution.”
